Sjöfartstidingen highlights Nordic Way Services’ role in NATO logistics

Sjöfartstidningen met with our CEO, Calle Ortner, for a conversation about civil–military logistics coordination in today’s changing security landscape. The article goes straight to the core of our mission: creating scalable logistics solutions that can handle everything from complex vessel operations to everyday support services — even thousands of pizzas if that’s what the situation demands.

“The military leads, but civilian actors support. We want to build scalable preparedness where we can coordinate everything from accommodation and sanitation to transport and food deliveries. If a unit wants a thousand pizzas in Tornio on a Friday night, the system needs to be able to handle it,” Calle explains.

Calle also highlights how Norway built a strong and early partnership between defence and industry — a model that has proven effective at large scale. There, civilian actors have managed everything from major temporary camps to extensive support services during large NATO exercises involving tens of thousands of soldiers.

This is the capability Nordic Way Services aims to adapt and strengthen for Swedish needs: a structure where civilian resources can be activated quickly as demand increases, and where logistics function just as well during exercises as they do in real-world scenarios.
